Philippa Collins’ internship at Pertemps was originally for 9 weeks in 2013, however it was extended for a further month so that she could continue the great work she was doing on her project.
Her roles included reviewing all the current HR policies and redrafting them in a uniform and user-friendly format, working closely with other members of the HR team, answering phone calls and occasionally assisting with some HR admin.
The main skills that Philippa developed were her drafting and writing skills and using legal research in a different way to just academic writing. She also improved her team-working skills, attention to detail and using a new computer system.
“I enjoyed meeting members of staff at Pertemps as they were all very welcoming and friendly and I also liked spending lunchtimes with a couple of other interns and sharing our experiences.”
